Sarah Elizabeth’s mother-in-law but almost certainly not Hannah’s Grandmother..

Catherine was born in Easom about 1822 and married John Frederick Hoghton 31st October 1848 in Blackburn Parish Church. John Thomas was born the following November; the three of them are at 33 Spring Gardens Blackburn for the 1851 census with a lodger. A second son, Frederick was 17th May 1854.

1861 at the family was at 67 Leyland St Blackburn (this is the street Sarah Elizabeth gives as her address on the marriage banns) with a servant (so the family were relatively well off!) and two boarders.

Frederick junior died in 1869.

1871 census: The remaining three family members were at 42 Anvil Street. John senior was unemployed. John junior was working as a joiner.

Catherine died Q4 1878 aged 58 still in Blackburn.
