Ralph’s maternal gradfather. He was born on 2nd August 1847 at Buckland End, Casrle Bromwich. Younger and older sisters.

I think CB was very rural at this time – worth a photo and a paragraph; include baptism record – 29 Aug 1847, in the church there. Plus the parish records go back a bit to Alfred’s grandfather, William Jenkins.

Alfred’s father Robert died of Consunption aged 40 when Alfred was 7. (He’s listed as a Husbandman on the death certificate). . Death Cert for sister (aged 13) 27th April 1859 of phthisis (TB), living in Bucckland End. Mother Ann living in Nechells Green??

In 1861 younger sister Ellen is with a third cousin (all very Dickenisan); Alfred is lodging and his mother is a housekeeper.

in 1871 he’s lodging in Buckland End (same third cousin as 1861) – with Ellen and mother. (Labourer. Unmarried. Age 22. Relation to Head of House: Lodger), but:

Marries Mary Ann Waklam on 17th July 1871 All Saints Birmingham; he;s a bricklayer, shes a domestic servant, both in Lee Street Lodge Road (near where Marj ended up lodging?? – theres a Lees st now)

8 children. Florence is the middle one. Stour Street, Rotton Park, Ladywood

1911 he dies in the workhouse aged 63 ish. Is he buried in Key Hill?
